What is quality and how do we create quality in modern software development, not only through testing, but throughout the development process?

In this course we work with Quality Engineering as a mindset and a practice: How quality is built into everyday work through shared understanding, clear expectations and early feedback across roles.

The course gives participants a shared language for quality and concrete practices to embed quality into the team’s workflows.

GenAI is integrated throughout as a sparring partner that can help you think, draft and analyze faster (with human review and responsibility as a core principle).

  • The course consists of to interlinked modules. When you sign up for the course, you are automatically registered for both evenings.
  • Modules will be held on August 20 and August 27, 17-20. 
  • The training combines theory with concrete examples and exercises, so you can put your knowledge into practice.
  • The modules will be recorded and available for a limited period of time to participants.

Module 1: Quality mindset, shared language and quality activities

  • What does “built-in quality” mean in practice?
    • What is quality?
  • Introduction to the VOICE model
  • Quality as a shared responsibility: roles, collaboration and culture
  • Typical anti-patterns: “test will fix it”, “we test at the end”, “quality = fewer bugs”
  • Introduction to TMAP’s “Quality Engineering Activities” as a framework
    • Where in the lifecycle do we create quality?

Module 2: Quality Engineering in practice + anchoring

  • How is quality embedded in the team’s workflow?
    • Backlog refinement (clarifications, testability, shared understanding)
    • Sprint planning (quality focus, expectations, quality measures)
    • Review/demo (feedback, learning and alignment)
  • Practical techniques:
    • Acceptance criteria
    • Early feedback
    • Test design as support for quality (not “testing at the end”)
  • Measurement and improvement / anchoring:
    • What is worth making visible (without drowning in metrics)?
    • Feedback loops and small improvements: retrospectives + next steps
